Represented the majority owner of a new nuclear power expansion, including serving for several years at the forefront in working with officials and lawyers at the Department of Energy (DOE) and their counterparts in the private sector to resolve several major legal impediments to the implementation of DOE’s Title XVII Loan Guarantee Program. Lead counsel to client in negotiations of loan guarantee terms and conditions with DOE in connection with the program. Mercer Thompson attorneys also served as real estate counsel to the lead developer of this nuclear power expansion.
Lead outside counsel to the lead developer of an IGCC lignite mining, gasification, generating and carbon capture project in connection with a DOE loan guarantee under Title XVII of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
